Gold seems to have found a place in many investors' long term investment portfolios. The Department of Energy reported that demand was not diminished greatly by the record crude oil supplies last year. In other words, it will most likely take much higher crude oil prices to subdue global economic expansion and therefore, the world's appetite for crude oil.
